A Taste of Nature

So, it's been a month now since Hannah and I have arrived to Siem Reap, Cambodia. During the time that Hannah went to a wedding in the village (there were many reasons why I didn't go but mainly you'll see in a bit), I ventured out of Siem Reap town and went to West Boray Reservoir. Most locals considered West Boray as their local beach, let me tell you it's nothing close to a beach. It's definitely a reservoir. Beggars cannot be chooser however; a good beach around here will take 13 hours on the bus.

I got bite by something and I ended up with a cankle for 4 days and couldn't walk.

 Adventuring in the wild...

Since I couldn't really walk, I had to stay back from our village trip. I ended up just venturing out on a motorbike with Debra (the country director for senhoa.org).

West Boray, where the locals swim.

Grilled Fish

Fresh coconut juice!
Beetles..disgusting.

Getting lost...

This cow was really scared of her. hehe

That's me!! I'm born in the year of the Ox aka Water buffalo.

That was the closest I've been to wild animals like that! It was so exhilarating.

Please continue to follow us as we're going to have photos of where we volunteer and our life in Siem Reap!!

Happy Khmer New Year!!!

Hello loves. Thank you for all of your support. We've been too busy with keeping up with life in Cambodia and work that we've neglected blogging. Sorry!!!

Khmer NY just passed and we're now back into school session! Whoopie. The girls are back in class now and of course like any teenage girls after a long break, they're being a tad lazy. That's given. Since we're working with disadvantaged and some at-risked girls, we're not allow to post their photos. I can however, post photos of the staff working hard and pictures of our facility. Also, we got new photos up on our flickr account so please check us out.

Khmer woman selling meat on a stick. This is one of my picture perfect of Cambodia.
On our way to Bakong Pagoda
She's selling sticky rice in a wooden thing. It was tasty!
He's sooo cute!
Yes, you cant say no to that face!

They're very practical with their prizes. We won some beers. =)
These flowers smelled so good. They're usually around for Khmer NY!

Cambodia, how I long for you....

Hello there! We have finally arrived in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The flight here was arduous and long, but after 37 hours and four different countries...we're here!
We flew from JFK (NY) to Los Angeles to Tokyo (Japan) then to Singapore (13 hour layover) and finally we're in Siem Reap.
on our way to asia
Getting ready to roam Singapore
Our first meal! We went to 'Little India' to get good food at Mustafa Centre.

If you want to see more photos of our trip, please go to our flickr account!

We have officially been in Cambodia for 2 weeks now. When we first came in, we had so many issues with housing and the organization not having our background check in. We couldn't work with the girls for the first few days, but now both Hannah and I are cleared and ready to go. Of course, nothing can be perfect...as much as we want to jump in and start teaching, it's KHMER NEW YEAR here! I really don't understand why New Year in Cambodia is now but we get 1.5 weeks off! The girls got 2 weeks off. =) Most of them went to the villages to visit family or relatives.

Here are some photos of Cambodia...

River view...dare you to jump in!

I know some people think it's wrong to take photos of kids, but he's so adorable! I couldn't resist.

First week of work...strategic planning. Yah to us!
